I wanted to send a note to tell you how much our daughter (Evy Hoffman, age 4.5) is loving tennis class. She was signed up for one class this past session and we have signed her up to do both Mon and Wed for the 2nd session starting next week.
It is without a doubt that she loves the class because of the excellent coaching and structure. Both coaches (Tommy and Max) use just enough humor to get the kids at ease and having fun, but they are also excellent at keeping the kids focused. The coaches structure the lessons in a way that keeps the kids constantly rotating so no one has the opportunity to get bored or feel like they didn’t get chances to hit. It’s very obvious that all the kids are actually learning how to play. That is no small feat with a group of kids aged 4-5 yrs old. Even during the past few crazy hot and humid afternoons, all the kids are fully engaged the entire hour. I am sure this is already something you know, but Tommy and Max are really wonderful with these kids – I just wanted to sing their praises too.
For context, we’ve done other sports for this age group and our experience has been that the kids have fun, but aren’t necessarily learning. It’s more of a chaotic free for all with little structure and a ton of 4 yr olds crashing into each other. You’d hear kids coming off the field halfway through complaining to their parents that they never got any turns to try, which was disappointing for the kids and parents alike. This is what we’ve come to expect for sports with this age group, but now the bar has been reset.
Thank you for having such a great program with great teachers!
